2 - dad's in the hospital again. he'd had his bypass surgery 9 yrs ago; apparently, they last for about 10 yrs. he's got a blockage in his bypass, so next month they'll go in and put in a stent.
3 - the downstairs is clean!
4 - the upstairs is not!
5 - need to redesign the girlfriend sweatshop website
6 - and my portfolio
7 - fo' sho'
8 - i'm really excited about girlfriend sweathop and hope that it takes me wonderful places in 2007

happy boxing day!
christmas holidays are over and 6 hours of travelling complete! two excellent meals at the yau and maltese residences. lobster & lasagna!
i got some cute gifts, ant got some cute gifts, the cats got catnip.
i'm feeling pretty relaxed right now after a day of work, a shower, a nice dinner out, chianti and a face mask -- not in that order.
like madge, 2007 is perhaps when you'll see me next. of course, i could be lying and i'll be around in the next few days, but i am still attempting to clean the house. it may be a lost cause, but we'll see how it goes.
and this is for you, job!

weekend cavorting!
i have an A so far, but lack a grade in my second class. i think today is the last day to turn in grades, so hopefully it will come through alright.... looks like i have a 10/90. which is what i've had since 10/25/06. this professor really knows how to stretch out the tension....
so friday i dropped anthony off at the airport. he went to chicago for the weekend to finish up the mixing for red room cinema. {it sounds awesome, btw}
and then, shuffleboarding w/ jen! i am now a true floridian. nevermind that i was born here, pfft. jen learned me and even let me win! apparently i have good form. free shuffleboarding at the world's largest shuffleboard court, beer, twinkling lights... it was a ton of fun. not to mention a possible wedding location. cheap + fun + quaintly florida = highly likely.
saturday night was the crafting out loud craft show! skip the mall, buy handmade!! yeaa!! *beeeewww* let's just say that everyone was not thinking about shopping, but instead partying since it was the university's graduation day. oops!
anticipating a lackluster show, jen and i brought mulled wine to the show. brian rescused us along w/ miss lila mae and we got tipsy in the car for hours. it probably looked like we were getting high, what with each of us taking turns going outside and sitting in the car w/ the lights out and the glass turning foggy. eventually, the lack of actual customers forced the 3 of us (me, jen & miss lila mae - brian had high-tailed it out of there some time prior) to just leave our tables and drink our way to satisfaction. a highly enjoyable night!
after the show, which packed up early, jen & i headed to dave & dug's holiday party, in which a creepy co-worker of a friend said to jen about me, "i want to 'eff' her hard." i just couldn't type it. ugh!! AND he was married, which just adds to my lack of faith in humanity. otherwise, it was enjoyable watching the newly free'd dave cavort with 16 yr old girls. hmm...
sunday was spent relaxing and cleaning. i actually hung photos in my craft room, made it all presentable-like. and jen came over later and we watched romeo & juliet and ate ben & jerry's after having a romantic dinner together at jasmine thai. delicious, delicious, fattyfatty duckling. we ate outside and it was beautiful. except for the mosquito i killed that had a belly full of blood. ... that was gross.
eating outside reminds me of italy. if only more places had shaded areas to eat in florida... even though jasmine thai is in a strip mall, they do an excellent job of hiding the parking lot with a little wall, mosaics and various fake plants - it's really quite cozy.
again, i say, i love love love not having classes. *le sigh* and i love love love having anthony back in town. :) he just got in last night - huzzah!
today, yes, the 19th, we shop. shop shop shop for gifties.
12.16.2006
$3 wine
jen is about to head over and then OFF to sacred grounds for coffee and a craft show until 12 am. hope it goes well! if not, well.... there's the mulled wine.
it's weird and lonely, since anthony's in chicago w/ andy
i went to sleep watching pride & prejudice last night. you know, to keep the spirits up.
goals until the new year
- finish christmas shopping/gift making
- clean the house and get rid of extraneous fodder
- upload photographs, art slides, etc.

girlfriend sweatshop beach/craft weekend extravaganza super heavy image post!
we instead left at 3 (or was it 4?). me, jen, rachel & bekah met up with erika at the hotel. it was lovely. we were greeted with:
and we were soso relaxed and relieved to be there.
this didn't last long of course, once the asti was opened.
out we went to whole foods for some delicious snacky snacks and for me, ibuprofen. 5 girls, 4 of them bleeding, 2 of them sick. i conveniently got the flu and my period on friday - lovely, no? the car was filled with crafts, estrogen and a veritable treasure trove of herbal medicines. and ibuprofen.
so we ate and went to the tavern on the main to meet some other vendors and hang out w/ yen & mike. hurrah! then back to the hotel to craft some more and to PLAY ON THE BEACH AT MIDNIGHT.
check out rachel's awesome pajamas. she needs a smoking jacket. and don't ask what jen's doing to my butt, i have no idea.
must... craft.... cannot..... stop!!
on the way to beach - this is jen & erika's american apparel shot:
the beach was cold and quiet and dark. the sand was freezing! like soft soft sugar. so different from ft myers beaches, which are full of shells. i was able to run about without fear of sharp cuts and stick-a-burrs.
much frolicking ensued:
and then the fun photos began. the cold makes us delirious, not the free beer at the tavern.
so many stars...
and unexplained objects
the dangers came from all sides
fear is the path to the dark side. fear leads to anger. anger leads to hate. hate leads to suffering
and yet, we were able to relax enough for some interpretive dance. there is always time for interpretive dance. we are the ocean.
erika really wanted to go skinny dipping until we realized creepy people were watching. go to bed, man! it's midnight!
anyways, the next day was full of coffee and crafts.
here's the auditorium:
us, pre-show
jen & rachel had this awesome idea for a logo sign!
and, our booth. lovely, no? :)
hopefully you were able to stay with me the duration of my trip down memory lane. i now love the beach and want to go back. so soft!! though, probably imported.
i should.... probably get back to work now. mayhaps i'll have time to write more later.

::commences territorial marking of semesterstone::
ahhhh...
unfortunately, still a last few assignments to go. which i am thoroughly not thinking about until sunday night. it's due at 5 pm on wednesday, but i hope to have it completed by 2 pm at least. maybe even by tuesday! ::gasp:: amazement!
in an email to daniel today:
kim needs -
hammock
quilt
mimosa
worn book
time bubble creating an extra 30 hours of free time
cabana boy
65 degree weather
today is already thursday.
tonight we have a truncated girlfriend sweatshop mtg. then home. then sending scanned images to be printed by saturday. then sewing until the wee hours.
friday - work. then more sewing and crafting into wee hours.
saturday - head to sarasota for mimosas and craft show on sunday.
this is where we are staying! http://www.helmsleysandcastle.com/
coffee machine? check.
mini fridge? check.
iron? check.
blow dryer? check.
heated swimming pools? check.
shuffleboard? check.
ocean view? check!
i must craft!! because seriously? the holiday fest wiped. me. out. inventory-wise. i am horrified to think that i shall have little to show at the atomic holiday bazaar, which was the show for which we were more excited about! plus, they have a nifty article about AHB in creative loafing. kickin'.
my life is a big to-do list as of late. i can't wait until the holidays when at least classes are over and craft show stuff is out of the way.

a year of living generously
oooo, i'm really intrigued by this site. i love the idea of coming together and helping each other on an international scale. i also like that it's not about guilt, it's about inspiration.
meta catch-up
man, i am GRUMPY today. just general grump-malaise running thru my veins. not sure why. maybe it's because i'm at work, alas.
and surrounded by idiots. yesterday, i swear i heard a woman say, "where's ching chong??" when she was wondering why her chinese food hadn't yet arrived. nice, eh?
i couldn't be as confrontational as i would have liked, mostly because there was still that 1% chance i hadn't heard her correctly. but i'm 99% sure that's what she said, because right after she said it, her friend called her over and started talking in suspiciously low tones to her.
november has not been a good blogging month. not much to report, really - just a ton of classwork piling up at the end of the year. i'll be in the library every weekend until the 13th. come by and buy me a latte! ;) triple shot? thanks.
- thanksgiving was spent at anthony's parent's house. lots and lots of delicious food and relaxation.
- i couldn't finish 'the people of paper' no matter how much i wanted to. maybe another day. in the meantime, i now owe the library $2 in fines (for that one book; i am sorry to say i owe $25 in total).
- currently reading gould's book of fish: a novel in twelve fish. i got this book ages ago when it first came out as a promo from borders. the best part (so far) is that the text changes colors. OOOOO! not like mood-changing colors, just different chapters use different yummy colors. i am easily amused and i hope that it's as good reading as it is eye-candy. it's my second time attempting to read it; maybe that's not a good sign.
- we put our christmas tree up! and we are in desperate need of better decorations. at least i made those jellyfish decorations. huzzah! a smack of jellies on our tree!
- i need to perfect a mulled wine recipe before the 10th. i plan on drinking a lot of wine between now and then. for research, of course.
- i've had at least 3 pots of tea every day this week at work.

finally, i have caught up with rachel and have made holiday-themed items for friday's craft show.

don't look back
it is officially mid-november and the winding down of classes has begun. a week or so ago i was stressing so badly i started having stomach stress pains (i.e. acid overproduction ala 'inner space' pod fighting). thankfully, much of that has subsided with anthony's assignment-tackling help ('stop whining, just do it').
as it nears the end of the year, i am reminded of my resolutions. *big sigh*

come into my parlor....
the view from the stairs... check out that mess on the floor! now, imagine it all over in cute little piles.
here's the lightbox yen taught me how to make! there's a rock inside - one that erika painted for me in high school. i usually use it as a doorstopper. the dress form i got from rachel's sister bekah, who got it at an antique store somewhere. her name is "senorita cosa" (miss thing). and i love love love metal boxes.
when i'm sewing, this is on a shelf to the right of me. i like jellyfish. and color. lots of color. a vomitous rainbow of color.
gfss has business cards! we're all official now. we're also thrifty! (read: cheap) we got them printed in black and white and then painted them w/ gouche and watercolor. HAHAHAHA! they look awesome, though my green is slightly neon.
also, next time, remember to request a full-bleed, or whatever it's called.
here's us at stride for strays last weekend!
jen works for act (animal coalition of tampa), so she was running around helping them out all day. rachel and i got to love on each other by ourselves.
al lopez park. it was so great when all the people came out w/ their dogs!
bekah was there, too, but i don't have any pictures of her! just her legs. alas.
here's some of our stuff!
teehee!
11.09.2006
so.
so.
this is bad. only 4 more weeks left to classes.
bad? you ask.
yes, bad.
only because that's 4 weeks in which to finish a multitude of assignments and also craft in a very ocd way. and i can say that, because i am (self-diagnosed) slightly ocd.
when i was younger, a ball would bounce on a wall, and i'd have the need to wipe the ball-residue from the wall. and then wipe some more.
or is that just weird? maybe just weird.
i am drinking wine on an empty stomach. i am tipsy-blogging and heading to the tea lounge for some girlfriend sweatshop action. good times are to be had. good and relaxing times. and i think that there may be a token crafting male? que strano. apparently, he was at the last meeting, which i missed, because i was at the taping of "wait, wait."
... well, i suppose i should get going. they have some incredibly yummy food at kaleisia. i'm sure we will all be crowing about the democratic coup and the negation of the rummy. i was trying to think of a way to have a non-rummy party, which works, because i have no idea how to play rummy. or gin rummy. something about getting cards in threes?
this weekend will be me working on classwork, hopefully drinking some mimosas, crafting and shopping w/ jen for some beautiful fabric and clasps.
ah. friday. you give me goosebumps and make me shiver in happiness.
11.07.2006
*ahem*
because voting is sexy.
some things that i have been intrigued by as of late:
- schoolhouse electric co in portland - classic fixtures and handblown shades that have been out of production since the depression era
- lorena barrezueta gourmet porcelain dishes - they look like colorful versions of take-out ware!
- little lights that attach to a 9-volt battery - viola, instant light!
- the following are from boingboing.net
- small rubber stamp that takes out "god" from u.s. currency - or possibly replaces it w/ the flying spaghetti monster
- book of library porn - instant orgasm for librarians and bibliophiles
- florida and texas voting machines seem to magically pick GOP ticket "in error."
- report voting problems to 1-866-OUR-VOTE
11.03.2006
i'm a posting fool, because i dislike my job
i hate feeling behind. which is how i feel. immensely. stressfully.
schedule:
- do bulletin board discussion for class at work. get out of work.
- go to petsmart and jo-ann for fabric and catnip. staples/office depot for organizational supplies.
- pick up anthony.
- drive by marshall ctr for a free student organizational calendar. (can you sense a theme here?)
- go home. make catnip toys like crazy. anticipate feline orgy at home.
- saturday. will want to sleep in, but will instead meet w/ GFSS for stride for strays. sell items and drink coffee or tea. ooh! pack a picnic! mimosas? sneaky.
- organize classwork and maybe even finish some.
- have mulled wine party, possibly with pumpkin defacement and mutilation. i need warm spiced wine.
- sunday. SLEEP IN. awake groggy, yet refreshed.
- get classwork done(ish), maybe make 2 bags. yea. 2 bags. that's not so bad.
things i learned in chicago:
- i need new shoes
- sometimes, boys are cleaner than girls
- cigarette wrappers can be used for those other than tobacco*
- rats really do live in sewers
- people in the mid-west are really nice. like, really, really, inhumanly nice.
- the majority of my clothing consists of solid colors (hence, i oft appeared as though a rainbow had thrown up on me)
- i lick the top corners of my lips a lot
- i'm addicted to burt's bees beeswax sticks
- chicago is cooler than tampa (temperaturally and fun-wise)
- faith in humanity +60 - because andy had only met us briefly maybe twice and didn't know us that well at all and we got a key to his apt! and dug drove his car in chicago.
* this one is a joke; really, i'm not that naive. really.
and i got to see wait, wait! don't tell me taped live in sarasota! listen on saturday to hear me & ant clapping. yen & mike also took us out to have some thai and afterwards we went to a little gelato shop and had ice cream and pastries. lovely AND delicious!
things i learned in sarasota:
- after the show, they re-record parts that got muddled or weren't clear
- old people sometimes wear a TON of cologne
- sarasota has a lot of old peoplecarson cooper looks *nothing* like i thought he would
- apparently, it's 8 degrees in chicago (w/ wind chill) - wtf?
- one of yen's cats is as big as thomas
- i need to make a lightbox like yen's
- watching is more fun, but listening at home is easier to hear
listening to:
tortoise - standards
11.02.2006
part II - chicago? may i have some more?
so where was i? rats.... andy's amazing breakfasts... super cold...
well, i'll just post some pictures to keep you visually, if not mentally, entertained.
here's the bean on saturday. i didn't take any pictures of myself in or under the bean, because all the distortion made me physically motion sick (pathetic? answer: yes). also, i thought ant & dug & i would see it on sunday, but alas, we did not make it downtown.
klee makes me feel good and fizzy.
